On 8th August 1942, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) adopted the Quit India Resolution during its meeting in Bombay (now Mumbai). The resolution called for the immediate withdrawal of British colonial rule from India, and it marked the beginning of the Quit India Movement. The movement aimed to launch a nationwide civil disobedience campaign demanding independence from British rule.
