Statement 1 is incorrect. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were not proposed by the "Club of Rome" in 1972. The SDGs were actually adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in September 2015.

Statement 2 is correct. The SDGs are indeed intended to be achieved by 2030. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes the 17 SDGs, sets a target year of 2030 for achieving the goals and targets.
